Cavs DVD-203G DVD Player

I bought this player in July, 2005, primarily with its karaoke function in mind. I have used this player sparsely and are not quite happy with its performance. When it works, it plays DVD, VCD, mp3 nicely. I have not had the chance to try CD+G and mpg4 yet. However, there are two major problems with its operation. First, the remote control function often breaks down. Second, it pulses or stops in the middle of play frequently, especially after about one hour of usage. I suspect that both problems are related to heating in the machine, because they come and go, and occur most often after it is turned on for some time. Just to set the scene straight, these problems happen even when the room temperature is only 65 degree and after only one hour of usage (the unit sits by itself with adequate ventilation). I did ask CAVS technical support about the remote control problem via email but never got any answer.
