The Bottom Line:
A good buy for the money don't pay over $400.00, a good starter scope.
This scope is an entry level unit with a great computer mount. It excels at locating any object in the sky. After entering the local latitude, longitude, date and time the scope automatically points to the first alignment star. Center that star in the eyepiece hit the align button the scope then moves to the next alignment star center it hit align and the scope is now ready to point to any object.
Immediately after entering Mars in the hand control the scope found the target, looking in the eyepiece Mars was not dead center but close. Then I entered M32 and the scope swung into motion moving and centering the Andromeda galaxy almost dead center in the eyepiece, what a fantastic piece of equipment. And for at least half an hour the scope kept on target with a slight drift after 35 minutes.
The weak point of this unit is it's optics when anything is near the center of the eyepiece what is called the sweet spot, it looks great but the outer edges can be fuzzy and distorted. All in all you are getting a good buy for the money and now that there is a two year warranty you can hardly go wrong. The convenience alone of having a scope that can find objects so you can spend your time observing rather than hunting is well worth it.
