Clairon's BD216 ... opinions of the college student.
Pros
Bright blue colors, easy to use, powerful sound
Cons
Buttons are red, no face cover in box, no CD changer controls
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Would recommend the Clarion BD216 to those trying to replace a head unit to those who want a bit more power and ease in controlling their music on the road.
Purchasing my Clarion head unit, I was excited to replace the previous Clarion head unit, ... which had a lot of problems, ... one of which I had to change CD tracks by pushing random till I got the song I wanted (did this for 2 years) and purchasing this head unit was more then a joy for me. When I purchased the head unit, the colors were awesome, especially the blue LCD screen for the display, but the red buttons didn't suit me. The 180 watts(4x45watts) does miracles with the subwoofer installed in my car, and also, the buttons and volume control are very easy to use and are located in spots where it's most convenient when driving.

After using the Clarion head unit for about a year, there are certain problems that occured with my head unit. One of the buttons on the head unit does not work anymore. (#5 button for changing stations) Also, I've attached a 12 inch subwoofer with a 800watt amp, and about 3 hours of driving with fairly loud music, the music stops and won't come back on until you start the car again. Also, some CD-R CDs come up with the ER-3 symbol on the display. ER-3 meaning, the CD can not be read.
