Don't loose the manual

The Bottom Line:
Nice entry level unit, but there are better options in this range.
I purchased a car that had this unit already installed. The sound quality is very good with a strong internal amplifier. The unit also has a fairly sensitive FM tuner and is able to pick up those weak college stations I listen to. It also does a pretty good job at reading the CD-Rs (not MP3) I burn on my computer. I have not tried a CD-RW in the unit. The other thing I like is that it has a rotary knob for adjusting the volume and other audio controls. I just hate pressing a button over and over to raise or lower the volume.
Everytime my wife rides with me, she gets mad because she can't figure out how to turn on/off the unit. The power button (and other functions) are labeled in very small print, and many buttons serve double functions (i.e. you must tap the function button to change from FM to CD, but you must HOLD the same button down to turn on/off the unit).
The display is also extremely bright. The blue backlighting is so bright, that it affects your night vision. I try not to look at it at all while driving at night. The other bad part about the illumniation is that when the unit is off, it is totally dark, so you can't see the power button to turn it on. By now, I have gotten used to where things are and I can turn it on without looking, but it is frustrating for my passengers. I guess it's a good unit for the control freak!
Be sure you keep the manual, preferably in the car. Every time daylight savings comes around, I try to set the clock without looking, but eventually give up and refer to the manual for the obscure key combination required to set the clock.
