ClearPlay CP-427 DVD Player

We signed up for a 2 year membership back in 2007 that included a brand new player.  We've used it maybe 5 times in 18 months.  The first DVD player they sent quit in less than 6 months.  First, it stopped reading filters automatically (they had to be reloaded); then it stopped reading DVDs; and finally, the DVD tray wouldn't open.  Clearplay did send a replacement player promptly, but it was a refurb (and I paid for "new").  Since then, we've found that the filtering is so-so: it seems to leave in a lot of cursing and violence and removes some tame scenes (like smoking and drinking).  The deletions also do not flow as well as their "Today Show" sample.  In all, we have been very disappointed and we do not trust the filtering enough for the kids.  It is a great idea, but the use of bad players makes the effort useless.
