The Bottom Line:
If you really must try this unit, get it from Costco. Only $599.00. If you can mount it, probably a good unit.
I just received this unit from Costco today. Within a half hour, I had attempted to install this unit in my car. A half hour after that, I was reinstalling my Magellan 3050 that I had bought at Costco (review to follow) and would have returned this piece of you know what back to Costco. The only problem is that Costco was closed so I have to wait until tomorrow.
Why am I so angry? This thing will not mount on my windshield. I tried several locations, I tried to prop the weight (this thing is twice as heavy as the Magellan) on the dash. I tried to wet the suction cup. Nothing would work. This thing sticks great to my drivers side window, but will not stick to my windshield.
Problem Number 2. The power cord is too short. I have had 2 other navigation units and I never had a problem reaching the windshield of my GMC Sierra. This cord was so short, that had I been able to mount the unit to my windshield, the strain would have probably knocked it off.
Problem Number 3. This unit does not have a battery, so if the cord, which is too short, comes loose, the power shuts off.
This unit is huge compared to my Magellan and the screen is beautiful, but is not worth the extra bulk. This unit, if it was able to mount on my windshield would have gave me a huge blind spot.
