The best $25 detector you can buy....
Pros
Small size, low cost, easy to use
Cons
Can't discern K from Ka, barely adequate performance, which isn't always acceptable for many.....
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
Can't fault it when it only costs $25. However, if you only want one detector, do yourself a favor and spend a bit more...
I purchased my 6060 for $25 new, to be used as a back-up. At the time of purchase, the detector I normally used was a Cobra 1010, itself a decent, if not stellar performer. I did do a side-by-side comparison test between these two, and found that although the 6060 took a bit more time to detect Ka (my only concern where I drive), it was never more than approx. 1 to 2 seconds slower than the 1010. I found the 6060 to be very easy to use, and had adequate sound level and display brightness. Falsing seemed to be similar to the 1010 as well, which is to say mediocre.
Since I would consider the 1010 to be an unimpressive mid-pack performer at best, I would have to say that the slightly less sensitive 6060 would have to rank fairly low on the performance scale. However, if one considers the money spent, the 6060 would actually provide more performance for the dollar. IOW, the 6060 is the best $25 detector you can buy.
I wouldn't recommend that anyone depend on this detector on a daily basis. Instead, please consider spending at least ~$100, where you can find some pretty decent detectors from Bel and PNI.
