Hi Everyone,
I have a Cobra ESD 6500 which is a 6700 minus voice alert. I got mine for $50.00 on Ebay. It came with a 90 day warranty and it looks brand new. I think the ad said that it was a factory repair job. I met a trooper on the road today who hit me with Ka band for a split second. My text display scale never went past number 1. It is a good thing that at least the part of Arkansas that i live in has got a little tolerance on speed. I was a few mph over the limit and he did not stop me. I like my Cobra but even the most expensive detector is not going to help a whole lot against the instant on radar. You would have to get the signal from the vehicle in front of you in order to have a chance.
I like that my 6500 does not give too many false alarms . I also agree with gjacks about it being a little too visible.
The one thing that i learned about radar detectors a few years ago when i was 21 is that when an officer spots a detector you are ticketed. Radar detectors would be a lot better if we had remote units that were easier to install. Even then i think that the remotes would have to be priced the same as portables before they would ever become popular.
