Cobra Electronics ESD 9000 Radar Detector

I bought this product thinking that since it was so new, it had to be good. I soon learned that I made a mistake. The Cobra 9000 9-Band Radar/Laser Detector worked fine for radar. It gave me warnings several blocks ahead of the radar source. I soon learned to trust it. That is, until I drove by a police car from my city (which uses laser) and it didn't alert me at all. My friends 6 BAND Whistler radar detector warned us right away. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. I mean, I have a new 9 BAND detector, it should pick something up right? I adjusted the position of the detector directly in the center of my car. I was *very* discouraged when, on several attempts, it did not detect the police LIDAR/laser (and for the record, I could see the officer following my car with his Lidar gun on every attempt) . I then traded it and bought a Cobra ESD6000 radar detector. I am very happy with it.
