The Bottom Line:
It's worth the money.
I have used this detector for almost 4 years, and have only had one ticket, as opposed to the 7 I had over the previous 8 years. It has saved me a lot of money and time going to court and/or traffic school (it's pretty sad when the teacher knows your name). For the benefit of those who are clueless, if you're the only person on the road, and a cop has a point and click type radar detector, which they all have now, and you're flying along without keeping an eye out for cops, you're going to get busted. A radar detector can only detect if the cop's radar is on. Only the ones from over 15 years ago had to stay on constantly (they supposedly caused cancer). If they turn it on when you're right in front of them, it's too late. Only an idiot would blame the detector, especially the poster who said the cop was in plain view. Radar detectors help, but they're not magic. As for lidar detection, the laser creates a very narrow beam, unlike X and K bands. ALL radar detectors have a very hard time detecting them in time to help you avoid a ticket. Basically, if you hear the laser alert go off, you have just enough time to pull over.
