Covers all your bases
Pros
Great at sensing "danger" ahead. Very cost effective.
Cons
A little bulky. Antenna has to be up in some areas to receive weather alerts.

The Bottom Line:
I highly recommend. It gets the job done and that is the bottom line.
The ESD9221 is one of the best detectors I have ever had. It gives ample warning of traps and is very good at filtering false alarms. It also has a weather feature that could even save your life.
I have been using my Cobra for a little over a week and have logged over 1000 miles of both city and highway driving. I already credit it with saving me from 2 tickets. On both occasions I was going 15 mph over the speed limit (my standard) and it gave ample warning to slow down the horses before I spotted the men in blue. One instance was about 1/2 mile before I happened upon the car in question and the other was about 1/4 mile. Both were using KA burst radar. It picks up K band even better. It is used by our local Sheriff and town cops and they have shown up anywhere from 1/2 to 1 mile away.
There are very few false alarms most are in parking lots when I am right in front of the doors. The two I have had on the road were apparently from storage facilities that had motion detectors as it goes off in the same place every time.
The weather feature is also very good. The recent storms we had gave me the chance to test that. I was informed of tornado warnings about a minute before they were on local radio. The only drawback is that this feature makes the thing extremely large.
You have your choice of many features. You can have voice reminders or mute them as well as the ability to mute the standard alarms. Volume is very adjustable. I has three light settings: bright, dim, and off. You can also choose whether to activate the weather alarm or not.
Detects virtually everything out there today.
Overall I would highly recommend this detector. I have owned quite a few over the years and this one has been the best by far. For the price you can't go wrong. It has already paid for itself.
