The Bottom Line:
I would definitely recommend the FRS-110 for normal everyday household use. I have yet to test their ability beyond that capacity.
The addition of my WebTV solved many problems but created another monster. My phone line is tied up for hours at a time so my mother, who lives next door could not reach me by telephone nor could anyone else. Solution: Cobra Microtalk FRS-110. This seemed to be the most logical an inexpensive solution. For a little over $50 I got a pair of radios and no more complaining about a busy telephone line. Not only can my mother contact me, but friends who really know me can call her to get a message through.
I can also use these small wonders when I go fishing. Leave one on shore and take the other out in the boat. With a two mile range over water, the lines of communication again remain intact.
The true test will be my trip to Disney World next week with one teenager and two preteens. I am hoping to be able to give them a little more freedom at the hotel but still remain in contact. I also hope to avoid separation at the parks.
The features of the Cobra FRS-110 include 14 channel capability, flexible antenna, pocket-size construction, power saver, and jacks for a microphone and speaker. The only option I have missed at this point is the ability to plug the radio into a receptacle to help prolong the batteries.
I have been pleased with the clarity and channel availability to this point. However, I know both of these will meet the true test this summer as the radios are used in other capacities.
