Have owned the radios for almost 3 yrs. I like that it does not use AAA batteries but 6 AA sized batteries. Are more practical for long life in high power transmission. I tested range in line of sight test across a lake almost 4 miles accross and with my house an additional 1/2 mile and reception was clear.
As for the batteries I do use the Ultra Duracell as they do last much longer.
