Cobra 5 mile Radios
Pros
battery Life, Crystal Clear reception for 1-2 miles, Controls, Combatebility, Customer Support.
Cons
Range (after 2 miles) Volume does not go higher like some radios.

Excellent Radio for Begginers, Amateur, hikers, campers, outdoor lovers!
I bought these radios just as they came out paying the top price for them.
I enjoy using them anytime I can, though they have their own minor cons.
I am extremely impresed with Conra customer service. I cut through the instruction manual by accident, fired them off a letter, and I got a brand new one. Many more e-mails and calls I made to them, and always they were able to resolve my issues. Thanks Cobra.
I am currently in Emergency Response Volunteering and use a lot of radios, I have been working with Motorola's. They are outstanding radios, though they cost much more. Cobra has options right on the radio, making it easy to reach, when in Motorola's you have to fetch after them. They are very compatible with any parts (ex. Motorola mic) which impresses me even more.
The range on these radios has not been as good as I was hoping for, yet very descet. I got them to go as far as nearly 3 miles of totally urban area on the FRS frequiency.
If I would to redo it again, I would probably go with Motorola VHF's just because of their clear reception, but I would remain with Cobra for FRS/GMRS frequiency users.
I think mine went for about 3-4 miles in the mountains/outdoors and maybe little more on the lake. But overall the reception is never good on any FRS/GMRS radios to go very far, especialy in urban area.
I would be nice if the volume could go louder, just because if you are on the lake with a motor running, they dimm out.
