Good build quality Clear Sound
Pros
Good build workmanship.
Cons
The volume cannot be completely shot off
Recommended it?
Yes
I was looking for a GMRS radio and was considering a Uniden 7 mile type when came across of pair of Cobra PR 240s. They look much smaller than Uniden GMRS720-2. I decided to give them a shot.
They did not prove to be a disappointment yet.
Pros:
1. Good build workmanship.
2. Clear audio (I have tested them up to 1 mile in urban environment)
3. Comprehensive manual
4. Can run of regular/rechargeable 4 AAA batteries (no battery packs to mess with). I use 1 universal charger to change all of my batteries. Don't need multiple changers lying around.
5. Good location of control buttons
Cons:
1. The volume cannot be completely shot off and the lowest setting is somewhat loud (not sure if this is a minus)
These radios use only 1watt of power for GMRS mode compared to other radios that use 2watts. I think this is why Cobra advertises them as being able to run 24hr with average use on 1 set of batteries.
I can't wait to test them in clear environment to see if they will communicate at 3 or more miles.
