I have owned several radar detector including (v1,rx-65,Escort x50,Whistler pro 58, Bel vector 965, Cobra 9700, Cobra 9210.Please dont waste your money! The cobra 9700 is more of a automatic door lacator than a Radar detector. While i had this unit i got pulled over and when the officer saw it he laughed and said that almost all the drivers he has pulled over with radar detectors have been COBRA UNITS.I told him i owned a v1 and was only using this as a back up radar detector. He was amazed i had a v1 and told me how when they were traing with their radar equiptment they tested it against the v1. He said it was the ONLY one to alert to the presence of radar EVERY time.
Bottom line: If you are on a budget I Highly reccomend the Whisler Pro 58 or 73. Great range, twice that of the 9700.Both the 73 and 58 have the same antenna to detect radar, only difference its that the pro 73 has a better display.
