I've owned a pair of Cobra MicroTalk2 radios for about six months now, and I can't think of a single complaint against them, except that they look like toys. But this is just the opposite of the truth. The MicroTalk2 supports 14 channels, with 38 subchannels per channel (which as I understand it, is not exactly the same as saying there is 532 channels, but I digress...). The Radios seem to be really rugged. They survived a five foot fall onto a concrete floor without harm. There were a couple of things that made me choose the Cobra radios. First, they have voice scrambling technology, which though not very sophisticated works to prevent someone from casually overhearing your conversation. Secondly, they have a "lock" feature on them so that the settings cannot be accidentally altered. I give the radios to people who don't want to mess around with the settings, and if I have to find them to change the settings, then theres no point in using them. Finally, the battery life in these things is excellent. At a fairly high rate of use, we get about 15 hours out of a set of 4 AAA batteries. Overall, I would say you can't go wrong with these radios.
