I make my living out there in the highways and byways flagging traffic. (Yes, I am that person in the road holding you up and making you late....sorry..its my job.) It is potentially a pretty dangerous job and also holds a lot of responsibility. Safety requires reliable equipment and I rely daily on these radios and they have yet to let me down.
First, price wise these little babies can't be beat. I found mine during hunting season on sale for $49.95 the pair. I have since added a microphone (27.95) giving me more hands free time than using it as a hand held. The built in battery saver feature saves even more pennies for your pocket. If you want to invest the money there is a rechargeable battery and desktop charger available. (About $27.95 for each.).
They are compact, easy to use and have a range up to 2 miles. Transmission is usually very clear. (Sometimes you can pick up parts of other folks' transmissions and vice versa but I have found that to be true with any radio type communication I have ever used.). With a built in antenna it's about as good as it gets.
This model also has a battery level indicator, monitor button, 2 channels(can be used with the 14 channel radios and call button.
Even though I primarily use these radios for work we have also used them on outings. We camp a lot and they come in real handy for staying in contact with others in your party. We took them to the County Fair once and it was so great!! I have memories of spending more time trying to get everyone rounded up when it was time to go than we spent at the function we were attending! The radios made getting the clan together a lot easier!
