Pros Inexpensive and easy to use, plus they work well
Cons You do pick up talk from other family radios if they are in the same area as you
Recommended it? Yes

My husband got me involved in hunting, hiking and mushrooming years ago. We are fortunate to have our own property of 85 acres of woods to hunt and hike on. The terrain is hilly with ravines and gullies on it. You can easily loose sight of each other, and if your not familiar with the area, you can... Read full review »

Pros Compact, good range, versatile. Price is right!
Cons None noted
Recommended it? Yes

I make my living out there in the highways and byways flagging traffic. (Yes, I am that person in the road holding you up and making you late....sorry..its my job.) It is potentially a pretty dangerous job and also holds a lot of responsibility. Safety requires reliable equipment and I rely daily... Read full review »

Pros They work well from a fairly far distance
Cons Battery life could be a little longer
Recommended it? Yes

These little Cobra "walkie-talkies" were given to my two middle boys, aged 8 and 9, for Christmas by their aunt. I thought it was a bit too much to pay $70.00 for "walkie-talkies" until we started to find all sorts of great ways to use them.

When coming home in two different cars it came... Read full review »

Pros Works incredibly well considering the inexpensive price - far better than the old CB...
Cons Only 2 channels; no security of transmission - others can easily listen
Recommended it? Yes

The Cobra Micro Talk1 Family Radio Service 2-way radios are very inexpensive and work very well for simple communicating tasks within a short distance. They are rated for up to 2 miles. On the open road, that was about right in flat country.

We've had ours for almost a year now and have... Read full review »

Pros Really, really cheap. Range isn't too shabby. Quite compact.
Cons Only two channels, really annoying sound effects, and they're PURPLE.
Recommended it? Yes

FRS radios. Walkie-talkies with multiple channels, longer ranges, and better sound. What's not to like? Price. What are you going to do about it?
Try these on for size.
I've done the FRS radio spiel before. FRS's work like the toy walkie-talkies of old, but they commonly have effective... Read full review »

Pros inexpensive, compact size, clear communications, long range & battery life
Cons only 2 channels
Recommended it? Yes

The Cobra microTALK1 is like a dream come true. For years I have bought walkie talkies that disappointed me.
I bought my pair from circuit city 6 months ago for $70, (they are now a steal for $50 a pair, don't pay a penny more) and they have been put to intensive use.

My girlfriend and... Read full review »

Pros small, well-built with a good range
Cons ony two channels
Recommended it? Yes

I have had a pair of microtalk radios for about 2 months now, and I am very happy with them. They are small and lightweight enough to fit nicely in a shirt or jeans pocket. I also like the fact that the antenna is not permanently in the "up" position, like it is on many other two-way radio models... Read full review »
