Coby DVD-207 Portable DVD Player without Screen

I purchased one of these players for Christmas, 2004. After playing the first 6 DVDs o.k., the unit began freezing the image and sound, skipping entire portions of movies, and eventually refusing to play any DVD except the first few minutes. I took it back to the store where I bought it, and after demonstrating to the salesman that it wouldn't play any DVD discs, the store exchanged it. The replacement worked fine until recently (about 10 or 15 DVD movies later) when it began to do the same thing. Still less than 90 days old, I again spoke to the salespeople at this local small business electronics store, where he said many of these had been returned with the same problem I described. Now convinced that another exchange unit would only play a few discs before developing the same problem, I have decided to just trash it and cut my losses. I'm sure that's what many customers have decided - especially those unfortunate souls who may have received one of these as a gift and do not have the purchase receipt... In fact I suspect the only ones of these that haven't been returned with this problem are those that haven't had very many discs played through them yet, or the owners have just decided it cost too little to bother returning it.
