attractive feature set for entry-level price, but quickly deteriorates

The Bottom Line:
I'd only recommend this device for people who are realistic about what to expect for the price. And be prepared to toss it within a year of usage.
I was amazed to find a $50 DVD player (special at fry's) packed with so many features.
First, the multi-voltage (110-220V) and multi format (PAL-NTSC) allows to use this player worldwide. (not to mention the region-free code I found on the web to play DVDs from any country).
However, the mechamism is loud, there is no display at all on the player, and most of all, it became slower and slower recognizing discs ("loading disc" display could stay on the screen for over a minute). It ended up not reading *any* DVD anymore, just a few months after purchase.
The only contact information I could find in the manual is their web site www.yamakawa.de which happens to be down at the moment :-( ... hopefully temporarily!
