The Bottom Line:
I highly recommend this radio for beginners, even for average SW listeners.
This radio is the best quality radio you can buy in the planet for the least price.I bought this radio from Big Lots store for 8$.
I bought this radio, because I wanted to listen news from all around the world.
I was actually planning to buy a higher class radio, such as Sony ICF-7600GR or Grundig Yatch Boy. However, I was scared to waste my money. Because I know myself, I want to listen SW today, but I don't know whether my desire to listen SW radio will last for three months. So I decided to buy a cheap radio. I spent my fast food money for the radio today, and bought this radio, I ate cheese & macaroni for the dinner while I was listening my radio, and felt very happy about this.
Though not worked hard on yet, I already picked up all major radio stations (BBC, CBS, DW, some Canadian,Chinese, Russian, Turkish radios, and more). And I was amazed by the number of religious radios available in the US.
This radio comes with earphones. It has AM/FM/LW and 9 SW bands (13m,16m,19m,22m,25m,31m,41m,49m,60m). It is operated with 2 AA batteries. It has a two outlets: one for DC adaptor (not included) and one for earphones (included). There is also a part on the back of radio to keep the radio in tilted positon. I found this feature very useful. It has also little world map on the back that shows the time zones. This radio also has a small red tuner light.
