Really not that bad...
Pros
None really, it just works and the price tag is nothing to argue with.
Cons
Funky remote, but who cares right?
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Not bad, I'd recommend it for 20 or 30 bucks.
Walking through the grocery store of all places i happen to spot this big section of coby dvd players out the corner of my eye and when I seen the price of $20.00 USD I thought what a piece of crap, there's no way anyone could manufacture a DVD player and sell it for 20.00. But man was I wrong, took it home unpacked it, set it up, which by the way was a snap, and fired it up. Of course I happen to already have a S-Video cable, which by the way is not included, plugged it in as well as the provided RCA Audio cables. This was all hooked up on a 52" Hitachi Rear Projection TV and when I popped in my first DVD it worked instantly. Sound was crystal clear but the picture quality was slightly blurry on some scenes in certain areas but unless you're a die hard picture quality freak, then who cares, you prolly won't even notice. I'm wondering what type of video connection some of these others used. Obviously quality is gonna suck using component, but S-Video is the way to go and you could pick up an S-Video cable from practically anywhere for a buck or two. Remote was a little weird, like some said, you have to have it pointing right at the unit and put a little force on the buttons, some more than others, but it does work. DVD tray slides in and out flawlessly and effortlessly, and is pretty quiet too. I dunno, for 20 bucks I'm thinking of buying a few. Too bad the ones bashing this tend to forget the price tag and to an extent you do get what you pay for. If you want to complain about crap for 30 bucks or so then do yourself a favor and go spend the 100-200 bucks for a sony or something more top of the line, DUH.
