The Bottom Line:
It may be cheap, but it doesn't beat the heat!!
The Compaq FS7600e (Black, Silver) CRT Monitor was included in a computer purchase from Walmart. Price for total package was approximately $500.00.
The monitor has great color, though when coming down to good and negative qualities, the Compaq FS7600e (Black, Silver) CRT doesn't beat the heat.
It may be cheap and may last a few years, but after that, you're left buying a new one, due to quality of product. As another review stated, the monitor flicking, I'd have to say, s/he is right because, at times, I've noticed it will "twitch" for no apparent reason in the middle of an activity. Its rather annoying and one time, the whole screen went black on me and I had to restart the computer, thinking there that the monitor was going to go out. It also went blue with lines in it (not sure if this is an indication of needing a new one neither), but it doesn't seem too hot.
I'd also have to agree with the other reviewer on dust. All monitors from Compaq that we've ever had do attract more dust than the average computer monitor. Its rather annoying, having to clean the monitor more often than regularly.
We had a previous Compaq computer set; unfortunately, that set only lasted 2-3 years. As for this set, it has lasted about 5 years, but its still a disappointment from the quality of this product and the results of what happens after awhile of having this. I know it can be costly to go out and have to buy a new monitor and sometimes, its just cheaper to buy a computer set, instead of a monitor itself.
Overall: On the rating scale, I'm going to have to rate this monitor: Below Average, due to the flickering, attracting more dust than usual, and how long Compaq products in particular have lasted me.
Would I recommend this product? No, absolutely not. I'd recommend any other brand before Compaq.
Customer service is also horrible, when trying to get things fixed; customer service seems to brush you off as if you don't exist.
