No
The Bottom Line:
I would only get this system if you like to listen to music with little need for big bass or if you only listen at very low volumes.
Even for the money, this could have been better. I ended up paying $25.00 USD tax after the $20 mail in rebate. NOt oo bad, but I did have to shell out 45 bucks in the first place, so I expect at least SOME quality. It has been said, and is true that the L/R speakers are very capable. The higs and mid range are very clear and strong. Turned high up I could even feel the air being moved by the midrange cones. That part is a step above anything in this price rance. What sucks, however, is the sub. I listen so fairly bass intensive music (ie Jungle and Drum n Bass) at high volumes. Let me tell you, move the bass level 1 cm of a turn of completly off and you get horid distortion from the sub. At first i thought it was a rattle from my desk. I isolated the sound and determined it was from the sub it self. I thought it was maybe the plastic port in the enclosure making the noise so I held it down. Still no help. I went so far as to open the box up and check to see if something was loose. Not a think. Creative actually hot glued anything and everyhting electronic in there. not one loose piece. After reading other reviews however, I found this to me a common problem.
Another thing i dont like about it is the "control pod"., This is completly useless. I already have 2 headphone jacks in he front of my computer, one in the back. I own and iPOD not a nomad, and i refuse to record out of its line out jack, given i already have 2 in my computer. the thing just takes up space and is another wire addiong to the rats nest in back of my desk. id much rather just have adjustable gain on the sub it self. then again with all the adjusting of the bass that this thing needs to not distort maybe it IS a good idea to have the controls here.
