Sounds great with some adjustments
Pros
Clear highs and mids, bass fills in well
Cons
Treble is a little bright
Recommended it?
Yes
While others seem to have had unpleasant experiences with these speakers, I am mostly satisfied. I was using a minisystem to listen to my music before, and these are the first powered computer speakers I've used in a long time. I use them mostly to listen to music of all kinds, from classical to hip-hop to heavy metal. It all seems to sound good, with good fill-in bass from the subwoofer and clear sounds from the satellites. If I want, I can turn up the subwoofer and get powerful, hard hitting bass and nice sound for gaming.
One thing to note is that I did have to use iTunes' equalizer to adjust the sound so that it would be more balanced. I would highly recommend using software that has the ability to tune the sound output through some kind of software equalizer.
While these speakers don't have the warm midrange that I experienced from my minisystem speakers, they produce fairly accurate sound reproduction for the price I paid. I didn't expect miracles at under $50, and these speakers fit my need reasonably well.
