Nice entry-level speakers.

Pros Compact, inexpensive, no batteries required.
Cons Not very powerful, not much bass.
Recommended it? Yes
I purchased a pair of Creative SBS10's for my system at work, rather than enduring the paperwork and bureaucracy required to get them through the company. It was a bit of an impulse purchase - someone down the street mentioned on Usenet that they were selling them, and the price was coincidentally the same amount I sold an old modem for (to someone else on Usenet!) so I broke even.

My system at work is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a normal PC. It's a Sun Microsystems Ultra 10 running Solaris. But it's got a CD-ROM drive, an internal speaker that puts PC speakers to shame, and the necessary software to play compact discs, MP3 files, RealMedia, and other goodies. I was getting a little tired of the monaural output from the internal speaker, so I picked up the SBS10's. Fortunately, the Ultra 10 has fairly conventional, easy-to-understand jacks for headphones and all that.

The SBS10's don't put out a whole lot of noise, especially at the low (bass) end. That's to be expected - they're not very large speakers. On the bright side, they're totally driven by the system, so they don't require any batteries, or a separate AC adaptor. That's a big plus for me. With a standard stereo mini-jack, they could also be used with a walkman or discman, of course.

Overall, the sound is pretty decent - definitely more refined than that from an internal speaker. And the price was hard to beat. I'd definitely recommend these speakers for anyone who's just looking for speakers for their computer, and doesn't need anything huge or overly special.
