We had our first baby last fall and wanted something to shoot simple videos, just to capture her special moments. With all of the costs of a new little one, we needed something inexpensive. We compared the Flip and this, read many reviews and ended up choosing the Vado. For the price- it's great. My only complaint is that the sound quality isn't very good, to really be heard, you have to be very close to the mic.
