Wonderful little camera! (That I took back due to battery problem)

Pros Zeiss lens, hand grip, larger size than most digitals in the price range
Cons AA batteries need to be rechargeble type and charged daily.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Buy this one if you cannot find a DSC-S85. This is the next best thing.
SIZE: I always thought that I wanted a small spy camera until I tried to hold some of the small display models at camera stores. The Sony DSC-S60 camera is small but still has something of a grip to hold it. It has a wrist strap, but a neck strap would have been a good option.

LENS: I like the idea of the fancy Zeiss lens. That was a selling point for me since I had heard about the quality of a Zeiss lens. The lens actually goes back into the camera body and a little self-contained cover closes to protect it from dust, etc. I thought that this was dinky at first, but actually it is a very nice feature. You don't have to remember to put the lens cap back on after each use.

PRICE: The price was okay at around $250.00.

BATTERIES: Two standard AA batteries were supplied with the camera. I purchased a re-chargeable battery pack with a car charger for about $15.00. Update: The batteries that this camera uses are sucked dry within a day or so. What a hassle!

MEMORY: It did include internal memory but did not come with a memory stick. I priced one memory stick and it was about $48.00.

CASE: As for a camera case: I was disappointed that it didn't come with the camera until I saw how inexpensive they are now. It is nice to be able to choose the style and size on your own. I found a cute black zippered bag with a neck strap for under $5.00 right at Walmart. It used to be that a camera bag was as expensive as the camera (almost).

QUALITY: Time will tell about the quality of the camera. It seems to be fairly durable. It has the feel of a very expensive camera. I have had a Sony Mavica for several years with no problems and this camera should hold up as well.

EASE OF USE: The only downfall for me is that I will have to read the book on how to review the pictures. I tried a Casio digital camera and instantly figured it out in the store. It was the easiest of the ones that I tried. I bought the Sony strictly on their reputation.

UPDATE: I read the book and used the camera. WOW! Very nice! Great pictures! I cannot believe how advanced this camera is compared to my big old Mavica. This new little camera is much easier to use than I had thought that it would be. Now maybe I will get the nerve to download pictures into the computer which should be a breeze since you just plug in a USB cable (supplied with the camera). When I purchased the camera at Walmart the attendant gave me a free CD that will allow me to download photos directly to them and they will print the photos for me and I can pick them up at the next visit to their store! The price is about 19 cents each. probably most stores have this offer now. UPDATE: I took the camera back to the store. I don't know if I got a defective one or what. It started acting up. The battery life was AWFUL. It ate batteries. Maybe another one would be different. Check other epinions. Al in all, I think that for quality of pictures, ease of use, and durability, this is the best camera. As for battery life... I couldn't rely on a camera that dies so fast.
