Cheap but poor/limit playback control

Pros Cost, Size
Cons Limited Display, Slow Fast Forward, Battery Life, Download software Limited, Voice Recording weak
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  I would recommend it for $50 but if you have to pay to much then look at some other units. Its an entry level MP3 player just the basics.
I just want to get into a MP3 market. A local electronics store had them with a mail-in rebate for $50. Best feature of this player is the price!!!. I would to have NOT gotten any player if I had to pay $150 or higher for an MP3 player. Great MP3 player to get started with and see how much you use it. Then pass this unit along to the kids if you need/want a better unit.

Memory upgrades to 96Meg = 32 Internal + 64 smartmedia. Its size is very nice, I carry it shirt pockets. The sound is much improve with a good/quality set of headphones and music is stored at or above 128K bit rate/44Khz.
You can't download an major compact bitrate and sample rates. I wanted to send it voice type MP3 files at 24K bit rate and won't take anything less than 32K / 32Khz.

About is limited playback control, I like to listen to long talk show mp3 files of 30 - 45 mins long. It has a VERY SLOW fast-forward button. Only about 3x playback speed. Also the display does NOT show the file/MP3 name. it only shows the order number of the track and time into the track. Also I have accidently hit the erase button on the player thinking I was hitting the volume up button and erase my track.

Batteries last about 4 hours of play but I was hoping for much longer. I use recharagables but I wished it had an A/C adapter jack for playing in the car.

The downloading software is very very limited. It is basically just a USB transfer program. It doesn't do any conversion. Since the voice recording mode (DVR) can only be played back on the DMP-110. It can be transfered to your computer but their is no way to convert to any PC format and the voice recording sound quality is very weak. This was just a cheap add on feature in my opinion. The voice recording is hardly usable.

Don't get me wrong I do like it and recommend the player to others especially if you can get it for $50. Just don't test drive a friends $200 MP3 player and expect this one to be just like it. It's just an entry level MP3 player. It will keep the sound flowing but doesn't have any great bells and whistles.
