Secure Secure Secure.

Pros SECURE SECURE SECURE
Cons Expensive. But then you get what you pay for.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  It's the most secure wi-fi unit out there. WPA not sloppy WEP encryption.
Update: Well, it finally died on me: Oct 2004-Oct 2006. I had it on 24 hours a day :) Annoying thing is I bought a Trendnet Trendware 802.11a router as a replacement (primarily for the price). BIG MISTAKE. Trendnet disconnects even the wired connections once a day. Sticking with D-Links from now on.

I bought this wireless router for ONE reason only: 802.11a. All the wardriving/warchalking retards out there are too poor to afford 802.11a equipment. They're all equipped with cheapo $10 802.11b PCMCIA cards or Intel Centrinos. As far as these penniless creaps are concerned, I'm invisible - I TURN OFF the 802.11b/g antenna that comes with this unit. Turning it off is as simple as going into the setup via a web browser and checking OFF.

The WPA encryption supported by this unit is also better than the older WEP standard. And if you have a server, you can impliment RADIUS. And of course, you should only allow specific MAC addresses to communicate with this unit (all PC's have a unique MAC address identifier). And the manual that comes with this easily walks you through how to set up all this security.

Another thing to do with security is that this unit has a limited range. 802.11a equipment broadcasts on 5ghz frequency. This means none of your current equipment (i.e. microwaves, cell phone, cordless phones, plasma tv's) are going to collide with this signal. It also means it's short ranged, meaning your entire neighborhood does not receive the signal. If for some reason you want to receive wi-fi pass your backyard, turn on the 802.11b/g antenna and it'll also broadcast on 2.4ghz as well as 5ghz.

For you gamers out there, there is a special page that easily let's you click on which online game you're using, and the router will automatically make an exception for that site. No more figuring out which port to leave open for which program.

If you're one of those who don't care about security than you don't need to spend the money for this. But don't cry if the FBI comes knocking on your door one day and ask you to explain why you IP address has been accessing gay child porn.

Over all, I'm very happy with this unit. I have this and it's companion PCMCIA and PCI cards for half a year now. And no problems.
