The Bottom Line:
It plays...other than that, I would recommend buying an IPOD. They offer better sound and more accessories.
I've had my DJ30 for about 1 year now. I love the capacity it provides as I have a large music collection. I really can't complain about the units reliability as I have not had any major problems with it yet. It freezes up from time to time requiring a master reset.
The software package is horrible. Whoever designed MusicMatch Jukebox should be shot! I've given up on it and started using the free version of Real Player 10 instead.
The sound quality is mediocre! Even with good headphones, it's pretty unimpressive. The preset equalizer settings sound terrible. The custom equalizer is not versatile enough to help either. While we're on the issue of sound, the stock headphones hurt your ears and you will have to buy new ones.
Also, there are few aftermarket accessories to accompany the product. For example, IPOD has a Bose unit that the MP3 player can be plugged into for listening in the home without headphones. They also provide mounting accessories and power adaptors for people who play the unit in their car. The best Dell can do is sell you one of those cassette tapes with a wire attached to it.
My recommendation, for you hardcore music connoisseurs out there, by an IPOD.
