I bought this player in December 2004 for $29.99 + tax at a local drugstore, and as of this writing it is the only DVD player I have owned and I am still using it approximately 18 months later...

Great for a DVD Back up, offers a lot for the price
I know many people aren't happy with this product but it does perform, it plays all DVD's, Photo CDs etc. Because it offers MultiRegion and more, you really have to consider what things this player can do that many others cannot. Awesome
Wow. This little thing packs a punch. It's one of those rare finds that includes lots of useful features and a LOW price. I have to admit, I would have paid $30 for this if it hadn't been a gift from a friend. Even at 480i this thing makes a great picture. Read full review »
Might make a good plant stand...
... or possibly a serving platter for a wine and cheese party. But if you plan on actually showing a movie at your wine and cheese party, you'll want to get yourself a different DVD player.

A reasonable player for the budget-conscious
I was a relatively early adopter of the DVD format, having gotten involved in 1999. At that time, prices on players were still rather high -- the average was around $200 (of course, quality was also substantially better, particularly from the brand names... that's always the case when a new format... Unit Unsatisfactory
This unit was used for the first time since Christmas (recd. as a present) and did not complete the dvd which was a non store bought dvd. Two other dvds (home cut) were tried and neither played all the way thru.
A "Cyber Home" unit was tried and all previous tried dvds played perfectly.

Shell out the extra cash
I bought the Sungale 2026 for $14 on black friday. Unless you are absolutely short on cash, I would avoid this DVD player. Every movie that I have watched pauses randomly. bad out of the box
Does not read 2 out of the first 2 DVD disks tried. Factory new disks, not home recorded. This is unacceptable. Poor quality. Read full review »
Sungale DVD-2026 DVD Player
This player seems to work well with all disc and formats mentioned in the spec when playing in composite video out; however, it has a problem in component and s-video out in playback. It only plays in black and white. It also has a problem in progressive output.
