not suitable for most

As the feature list says
"Supports DivX V3.11,V4.x,V5.x and later files (without QPEL and GMC)"
This unit does NOT support QPel divx, does NOT support QPel xvid, does NOT support GMC Xvid.
However the RCA DRC240N DOES PLAY QPEL and GMC Xvid and Divx! Although the RCA apparently has no plans to release updated firmware to resolve cosmetic bugs the RCA is a better choice that this as it will play "downloaded" movies. Naturally you'll only be downloading movies to which you have legal rights. But in that case you'll be VEXED because the avayon will NOT play them -- just as the comparable philips will NOT.
XBOX XBMC plays everything for me, but for friends and family the avayon is not a suitable gift.
