The Bottom Line:
good alternative to the ubiquitous ipods
My wife bought this for me for Christmas in 2005. It's my first mp3 player. It's only 512mb in capacity, but it holds 120 songs, which is plenty of capacity. I usually only keep 30-40 of my favorite songs on it, plus some podcast radio talk programs. It's real small, about the size of 2 lighters. iTunes won't recognize it (I think iTunes only recognizes iPods). But I have gotten songs/podcasts off of iTunes onto the Dell DJ Ditty by copying them to my desktop and then pasting them over into the Dell DJ Ditty icon under My Computer.
It has a strap so you can wear it around your neck almost like a necklace, which I use while shopping, running errands, etc.. This is more comfy than arm straps.
Around the house, I plug it into my Teac home stereo system via a Monster audio cable. It sounds great through a quality home stereo system.
I like the controls better than the iPod controls. The Dell DJ Ditty has a back light that automatically lights when you push a control or button. Some of the neat features include an equalizer (rock, pop, jazz, spoken word, etc.), FM radio, and various play modes (repeat track, repeat all, shuffle, etc.).
Overall, it's a great unit. An interesting and cheaper alternative to the ubiquitous ipod.
