This machine works well for the money.
Pros
Small footprint. works well,has a power save, to cut off the fan automatically.
Cons
Too many people looking for this machine to operate like a $10,000.00 laser printer.

We purchased this machine, and replaced a Brother MFC-8440 ( which is a great machine) The dell worked well in all phases. And as for the fan concern, the manual does not cover the answer for this. I found it by mistake.
Just push the menu button until you come to printer set up, and then scroll with the side arrow button until you come to power save, turn it on, and set the time for 15 minutes, and the fan will only run for 15 minutes after making copies etc.
That solved the noisy fan problem.
All machines must have a sleep or power save mode, dell just forgot to cover it in the owners manual. I paid 319.00 from Dell's small business department, and I'm very happy with the product. You must remember, you can't expect this machine to perform like a $10,000.00 commercial machine.
For the small business, or home based business, or just for the person that wants all the features of an all in one, this machine is great.
If you want anything else, lease a high end laser printer, call it a day, and stop complaining.
