The Bottom Line:
The best-looking 24 inch LCD monitor under $300.
I purchased this LCD monitor at a Staples clearance sale for $155, it lasted for a day before it was sold out. I bought this monitor to replace my 21.6" Acer X213W LCD monitor and to gain a HDMI connection so I can also use it as a HDTV. The screen definitely dominates my desk and looks strikingly handsome on top of my glass table, keep in mind that this is a 16:9 ratio rather than my Acer's 16:10 ratio so it makes the screen a little wider and narrower.
I run a Compaq dc5750 with Athlon 3800+, 3gigs of ram and a EVGA 8400 GS hooked up with DVI cable, resolution at 1920 x 1080, fairly basic setup. The image right out of the box is a bit bright, I tuned it down a little, ran the gamma correction test and the result is a very clear and color-balanced image, nothing looks this good under the price range of $350, and in my opinion looks just as good as the more expensive 2408WFP. I did run into some issues with this display, which was a bit of a surprise. My Charter Cable box didn't work with this display's HDMI port, the cable box's front panel goes haywire when the HDMI cable were hooked up, when I unplug the cable it returns normal. My XBox 360's HDMI port worked with it just fine, and Charter couldn't tell me anything. It may just be my particular unit, but this was a big turn off. I also was not able to run any higher than 1600 x 900 pixels in Unreal Tournament 2004, updating the drivers did not solve the problem. I would recommend keeping this display at its native 1920 x 1080 resolution as anything lower makes everything looks like they've been squished.
Overall this monitor is a great performer especially when I paid less than $160 for a 24 incher. The HDMI issue is still unresolved, but you wouldn't have to worry about it if you don't have Charter Cable.
