I love Denon products!

Pros Great sound quality, so many features!
Cons One flaw in the remote for me, price may be high for some
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  I would recommend this receiver to anyone, go find a Denon receiver now
Background story

I was in the lookout for a new receiver for my 5.1 setup lately. I have been running a set of Warfedale speakers and Acoustic Research for rears and subs as a nice setup but I was really starting to not like my old Pioneer 5.1 receiver as it had only one optical and coax input and wouldn't control any of the video switching on my tv as it only has one svideo input. So I was looking around on various online auction sites for some brands like Onkyo, Denon and Harmon Kardon. I happened to run across this guy selling a nice Denon AVR-1804 6.1 in mint perfect condition, only used for 4 months for only 200 bucks so I took a chance and that's what I purchased.

The Lowdown

I received the unit in a matter of a few days and man I had always admired Denon receivers for there craftsmanship, this one you can tell is built to last. Three rotory knobs to control the various output modes (DTS 6.1, DD 6.1 EX, 6 channel stereo, various DSP simulation modes), the nifty screen displays your output source. The unit features, 3 optical inputs on the rear along with one coax, and one optical input on the front. It also has everything to allow you to hook your various video connections including component, composite, and svideo inputs. The stats on it are a nice 90 x 6 @ 8ohm but to me it sounds like a ton more than that, this thing makes my Pioneer 100x5 look like nothing as it's so insanely clean. There's another cool feature called zone 2 which I beleive lets you power another set of speakers in another room if you want to, not sure exactly how it works but I heard it's outstanding. There's a few things I didn't like about this receiver too, as you can program it to control various other devices in your stereo system I set it to control my Pioneer dvd player but I guess it uses the same frequency as my pc sound card as it trys to control that too. Shouldn't be a problem to most anyone else, not unless you have the same setup.

Conclusion

This receiver even though 2-3 years old is well worth the money as most things haven't changed in the last few years with regard to receivers. Denon's are always worth the money as they provide the cleanest most accurate sound available and they always impress me. This deck has so many features I would advise reading the Denon website for more information about it. Overall if your in town for a new receiver, get a Denon, you will love it.
