The Bottom Line:
If you want it because it has great power for $1200 or because Denon is a great product, go for it.
I have been installing Denon receivers for five years. It has a typical menu, if you are aware of what the different kinds of inputs and cables are called for a/v it is pretty easy to use. The HDMI upconversion works great but the switching is a drag. Not enough products on the market are ready for this yet, too much interfacing and not enough info on product software. It has the same feature that people bought 3803's & 3805's for, great power for around 1200 bucks and obviously cheaper online. But don't forget about the service you can't get online. You could spend weeks trying to get this thing to work with your HD cable box, home theater pc or upconverting dvd player. Your local Denon dealer can relieve you of a nightmare if you buy it from them. If you want to upgrade to this receiver for power or because Denon is a great product, jump on it (you may even still be able to find a silver one)if you are looking at one because digital video switching is so great, save your pennies until this next model year; maybe more of the products on the market will get along a little bit better.
