Spiffy little stereo!

Looks great, excellent sound quality, minimal but more than adequate features, relatively rare.

A little pricey compared to others, but worth it. Backlight won't last forever (replaceable).

The Bottom Line:
Not a substitute for a component system, but nothing is. If you're looking for a compact stereo to put in a small/medium sized room, you can't do much better.
This is a great little stereo. It looks slick, it's compact, and it's Denon so your friends aren't likely to buy it as it's not as mainstream as similar models from Sony, Panasonic, Aiwa, etc. I really like the design. It's sleek, modern, and clean without being gaudy and overdone. The vertical loading door is pretty snazzy and smooth as well. The construction is solid and it's light and easy to move.
The sound quality is excellent for a unit of its size, which is expected from Denon –a company with a great reputation for higher end audio components, but one that is relatively new to mini-systems and the like. Music sounds rich and dynamic, and the bass response isn't bad for such small speakers (and with the optional subwoofer it's quite good). The equalizer presets are handy, as is the timer function. The max volume isn't as loud as some, but it's plenty strong and sound doesn't distort even when turned all the way up. Should sound great in any room of the house, though I wouldn't recommend it for outdoor use or in a gym or something. My only real complaint is the life of the backlight in the display. It lasted for quite a while but one day just didn't light up.
