Denon D-G1: an excellent system
Pros
Excellent sound, true fidelity, elegant appearance, very good value for money
Cons
Slightly fiddly remote
Recommended it?
Yes
I bought this product because it had received excellent reviews from people who appeared to be looking for something beyond really loud bass from a small system. (Since my taste runs to jazz and classical music, volume and bass weren't a big consideration.) Was looking for a system to use in my office or in my bedroom as a clock alarm. The fact that this system was readily available on E-Bay at steeply discounted prices made the choice of the Denon a lot easier.
I've not been disappointed. The sound is far better than I expected from a mini stereo system: clear, true and with a depth of sound that comes as a surprise from such small speakers. It rivals my (expensive) component system downstairs. It's a pleasure to look at as well as listen to: an elegant and restrained design. The remote is relatively easy to use, at least once you get used to it (bitty buttons don't work well for middle-aged eyes). It functions seamlessly as a clock radio, too, and waking up at 5.30am to walk the dog is *much* more tolerable when awakened by a favourite CD!
For anyone seeking a stereo for a relatively small listening space this is an ideal buy, especially if they want a system that has good fidelity and true width and depth of sound. This thing is a sheer delight.
