Denon DCM-380 Piece of Junk
Pros
Good sound quality when it worked. Nice looking unit.
Cons
Ease of use wasn't bad but pretty much eveything else stinks. Don't waste your money.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
I would not recommend wasting your money on this item. It will probably not work for long.
I am a bit of an audiophile, typically purchasing high-end products or building them myself. Normally I do a lot of research before purchasing a product but in this case I simply asked the opinion of the salesman I was working with. He highly recommended the Denon DCM-380 as the best quality CD player available. I have never owned a Denon product because I was not very impressed but he demo'd the CD player and it sounded great. So I jumped in and spent about $300 for it. I guess the joke is on me! After a short time of very light use, maybe once or twice a month, it went crazy spinning around and searching for CDs, etc. I powered the unit off/on and it worked fine. I thought it was just a glitch. This happened one more time before the warranty ran out, with the same results. I should have taken it in asap but still didn't do that (My fault). After the warranty ran out the problem occurred almost every time I tried to use it. Now, I'm very lucky to get 1/2 of a song played before it goes crazy. Normally I can't get it to work at all. Based on other comments I've read, I'm not alone. I refuse to spend money repairing something that will just break. That is the last Denon product I will buy.
