Denon does it again with the DCM-5000!

Pros Quality, top of the line
Cons Costly
Recommended it? Yes
Normally I'm not one to spend 1,200 dollars on something like a CD player; however, I made an exception for the great deal I got on mine. The DCM-5000 is everything that I've hoped for and more. It does everything but cook me breakfast in the morning. The sound quality, options and capabilities of the DCM-5000 make it far superior to other CD changers.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the Denon name, it's probably due to the fact that most Denon products are very high-end. In fact, many electronics and department stores don't even carry much in the way of Denon home audio, if any, since they tend to cost more than the average consumer is willing to spend. In other words, most people look at it as a simple proposition of, "Hmm, I could either put down a down payment on a small house, or I could buy myself a nice Denon home stereo."

The DCM-5000 is really aimed more at those who require audiophile quality, but it certainly more than suffices for those of us who have a spare $1,340 (retail price) lying around and just needed something on which to spend it. Seriously, though, even if you're just looking for a really nice toy, this will probably keep you entertained for at least a year or two.

Some of the most notable features of the DCM-5000 are as follows:

- 100 Disc CD Changer - This is more than enough room to get a wide and easily manageable gamut of your favorite CD's.

- CD and Track Naming Functions - You can label each CD and track with text so that you get a display of what you are listening to as your listening to it.

- 160 Step Programming - 40 step programming with 4 functions - incredible!

- 24 Bit Premium Burr-Brown DAC's and 20 Bit Filter with 18 bit Premium Burr-Brown - Wonderful sound quality, - the best!

- Compatible with most PCs and several keyboard programs

- 5 DCM-5001 auxiliary drives can be connected to the DCM-5000 drive

- There's a really cool crossfade in analog mode

- It just plain looks snazzy!

As stated before, I would recommend this CD Changer for people with extra cash or people who crave the highest quality of CD changers. However, for those people who don't necessarily need to spend $1,200+ on audio quality - don't. You could probably get a very nice CD changer for only about four or five hundred dollars, and most people wouldn't even know the difference between that and the Denon DCM-5000.
