Great Unit, Great Music

Pros Good looks, simple to use, good display
Cons Contrast level hard to read during day, can be hard to mount
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  A great unit to start out, basic and to the point. Looks good and gets the job done. Nice features like Replay and Game Alert.
I bought this unit about 4 months ago and have had no issues since. Reading other reviews around the internet, I am not sure why some give negative responses to this unit and others. I think improper setup and being too quick to slam the two services plays a big part in their reviews.

Anyways, on with the show. The controls work fine and the way they are supposed to. Easy to push the buttons and find while driving, save stations, scroll through options, etc

Reception is excellent. If the antenna is mounted per the instructions using the equipment supplied then you should have no issues at all. I have been in 120 degree above to -40 below temps with no issues at all. Cut out a little one day during an ice fog, but we are talking two short half second blips over a half hour trip with 6 inches of snow on my truck roof and on top of the antenna.

Volume control - there is no real volume control, however in the options you can select the gain control to low/med/high output to match your stereo better. I use a fixed RCA jack line into my head unit and this is a nice feature they added to compliment that.

RF Modulator works just fine too, no static or echo issues at all in the truck. Indoors I can go at least 50 ft (maybe even more?) and tune in any clock radio or stereo in the house to Sirius. I have the recently purchased "boombox" that I use for camping and as a docking base at home.

As for heat issues, it gets warm, thats about it. No hotter than your stereo head unit or amp would.

Replay feature is great for the drive thru, cell phone calls, etc.

Game Alert feature is nice, "beep beep" and your preselected home team comes up automatically when the game starts.

Contrast levels are hard to read during the day as I have the unit mounted to the center of my truck. Looking straight on or at night is fine, but daytime on an angle is tough, but not impossible.

Mounting was tricky for me in my Dodge truck. I hate the suction cup unit that came with it, so I "modified" the mount and managed to mount it flush with the dash from behind using a small access panel that I removed. Worked great with some tweaking and cursing.

Biggest issue here in Canada is the limited stock availability to us. It took me 2 months and many waiting lists at multiple stores to find a unit.

As for Sirius vs. XM, pick what you will listen to the most. I have heard both and they seem the same quality wise, but programming is vastly different.
