L12SW powered sub
Pros
Cheap, relatively powerful and not too large.
Cons
Doesn't rattle the dishes in the kitchen:)
Recommended it?
Yes
I bought this one to replace a passive JBL sub that used 4 small drivers in a push pull, in phase out of phase, arrangement. The Dual made quite a difference and it was surprisingly cheap off of an online auction site.
I located the sub behind my sectional where I sit and with a good DTS soundtrack or a good concert DVD, it feels like I am sitting with the drummer or varioius rumbling and exploding sensations when the hero blows up half the town getting the bad guy. This is a very good and inexpensive sub for the money.
Boomy? Perhaps, but on a budget, not bad. There are plenty of controls to tailor the response of the woofer from in your face boominess to subtle vibrations.
There is a frequency cutoff potentiometer, a volume control, a phase switch, and a manual on/off switch for those like me who have a low hum on the cable coming in that I am too lazy to troubleshoot.
Bottom line, good enough for the job. Need more bass? Buy a couple of them and daisy chain them. I am going to!!
