Dual XDM6800 in dash cd player.

Pros Plays everything I have put in it, decent sound, variety of settings.
Cons Unit runs hot after about an hour, memory erases mysteriously sometimes.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Would recommend to the novice with an average ear for sound.
I bought this unit on sale at Best Buy for $111.00 including installation. A bargain. I was pessimistic about the price and the brand, but I wanted a CD player with MP3 capability and I decided to give it a try.

Things I like: The unit plays everything I have put in it. MP3's at all bitrates. It has decent sound without any external amps, and sounds real good with an external amp. The controls are easy to use and set and it has plenty of memory for station pre-sets. It has MP3 random play, which makes it nice if you have a large CD of MP3's. Also, if you are listening to a CD, whether on MP3 or standard CD, when you turn the car off and come back the next day, the CD will start up right where you left off. The removable face plate is also a plus.

Things I don't like: I listen to a lot of audio books as I tend to travel on occasion. After about and hour of listening to a straight music CD or an MP3 CD, the unit starts to pause, then after an hour and a half, the unit starts to lock up. I have had to take the face plate off and hit the reset button. The unit plays well the first hour or hour and a half, then the unit starts to get hot, and the problems start. Another issue I have is that for some unknown reason, all the pre-sets will mysteriously disappear. All the programmed stations and settings just re-set to factory settings. This has happened probably 3 times in the last 2 months. Just a minor annoyance having to re program the radio stations.

Overall, it is not as nice as the Sony's or other name brands, but you can't beat the price with the features it comes with. I would rate it higher if the unit did not get so hot.
