Hooking up external speakers

The cable in access is broken on my DU2701B model so I can just hookup to the video in on the T.V. from my cable box video out correct? But then I'd like to add my surround sound to this also, since there is no A/V output from the T.V. how would I achieve this?
Go from my cable box A/V output to the surround sound input,then Audio output from surround sound to the T.V's audio input? And if so which input, the front or the rear? Plus is there any way I could find the owners manual for the T.V.? When I bought the set the person didn't have it anymore and would like to get a hold of one. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
