Durabrand WD268 Review
Pros
Good sound, CD input, RCA out, lots of nice extras.
Cons
Dim display unreadable in daylight. Volume must be reset at every use.
Recommended it?
No
Installation was straight-forward. Paper labels on wires fragile, had to be careful not to lose them. The harness wires are very light guage (should be a little heavier).
When I powered the rig up, at first I thought it was dead because the display is VERY VERY DIM! In bright daylight, I had to shade it with my hand to make out the very faint numeric display.
The sound is as good as can be expected at this wattage/price.
The features are good. Lots of preset slots, an aux/CD input on the front, and RCA outs on the back (with little covers to prevent shorting/dust etc). There are buttons for loudness, mono, local, and mute (a nice added feature). The interface is logical.
Each time the unit is powered off (either by the power switch or by turning the car off) the volume setting is lost, so it resets to a very quiet default setting. So every time I get in my car I have to turn the volume up. Wasn't a big deal at first, but it has become a more noticeable task.
