Pretty Good MP3/CD Changer for the price!
Pros
Not bad to install (with luck and know-how). Great sound. Good features for price.
Cons
Won't power in "ACC" position, seems to lose memory when ignition turned off.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
I would recommend this product for the price. Pretty much delivers at or above avertised performance.
We (my nephew & me) installed my WMS7100MP3 in my 2004 Chrysler Pacifica this afternoon. I had about a 50 mile round trip excursion this evening a almost everything worked great!
I am lucky my nephew has the tools (volt meter, wire strippers, etc) and the knowledge to do a good job of installing. We got in all in an playing in about 2 1/2 - 3 hours.
We were lucky to drop the glove box and find an antenna connection we could unplug and just plug the FM modulator plugs right in to. Also, there were wires we were able to slice right in to for the 12v, battery, and ground right there, too. The back of the glove box had foam padding with was exactly the height of the modulator, so we cut out enough foam to fit the unit in and bolted the unit right to the back of the glove box! Everything was right there and was relatively easy for installation.
I only tried MP3's I ripped myself from some of my '60's CD's and they played GREAT! The song title, artist, etc displayed on the Commander as advertised. Sounded VERY good. Unfortunatley, I got the cheapest radio Chrysler put in a Pacifica, so and limitations on "richness" of the sound can probably be blamed on the radio.
The only issue I have so far is the unit does not get power on the "ACC" ignition position (I realize that is a wiring issue, not the fault of the changer, but we did follow the wiring instructions in the manual), and most of the time when I tuned off the ignition, the memory was lost and I had to search to get to the last song played or else it would start back at track 1 (I'll never get through a MP3 disc at that rate!).
Other than those two issues I'm VERY satisfied. I got the changer at a Walmart clearance for $64.00 (plus tax) so I can't be too critical in any case!
