Eizo FlexScan L 465 16 inch LCD Monitor

If you are searching for the absolute best (17 inch or under) LCD monitor for displaying text and photos, this is the one. After being spoiled by the extremely sharp pictures on my Dell Inspiron, I wanted to find an equivalent for my home system. For those of you who don't know, Dell Inspiron's top of the line laptop features a whopping 1920 X 1200 resolution display, packed into a 15 widescreen. Unfortunately, it is very tough to find this quality in a home monitor. Well, after three months of reading user and professional reviews, I finally settled on the Eizo based on it's 1280 X 1024 resolution, and .25 pitch screen. Once I set it up, I was very impressed with the bright screen, and very sharp text. However, the real bright spot for this monitor is how photo's look. They are the sharpest, most realistic looking I have ever seen. If you think HDTV looks sharp, you have to see this monitor display photo's. The only downside is the shape of the monitor. I had gotten used to the slightly widescreen shape of a 15 inch viewsonic, and the Eizo is just a square. Also, I should mention this monitor features a DVI input which reportedly gives you a better picture. I am using the DVI, but did not notice any dramatic difference over the standard connection.
